Art & Craft Social

Art & Craft Social is a FREE community event Rachael first hosted in May 2014 at Hot Art Wet City gallery. The event is inspired by crafternoons, stitching bees, and art jams people host as private gatherings in their homes with friends. We've taken this idea, of social making, and turned it into a publicly hosted meet up where all are welcome.

How it works: Each attendee should bring a small creative project - drawing, painting, stitching, crocheting, collage, etc, - to work on at Art & Craft Social. Come alone or with a friend, and be open to conversation and sharing. The Social provides an opportunity to meet new people, get inspired, and learn something new through exposure to the creative work of each person’s project.

The goal is to bring together a diverse group of artists, makers, designers, and craftspeople of all levels of experience to share and create in a social setting. The Social is scheduled every 4 to 6 weeks at a rotating list of venues around the city. Attendees are required to register for a free ticket through Eventbrite as space is limited.

  • All are welcome. This is an inclusive space for women, women identifying, and LGBTQ2+ people to feel safe and welcome.

  • Face masks are encouraged, but optional. We will do our best to keep our space COVID-safe.

  • Mailing list subscribers the first to hear about upcoming events - Sign up here!

The event is hosted and organized by Rachael Ashe, and co-hosted with Barb Wong & Rosemary Burd, three friends with a passion for making things with their hands.
